In every career or business opportunity  known to man, there is usually a period of time involved when you are required to plan, study, train or serve some sort of apprenticeship before you are finally considered prepared enough to profitably or effectively partake in any form of activity linked to these careers or businesses.

In order to become a doctor, lawyer, rocket scientist, bus driver, actress, engineer, brick layer, teacher or footballer for instance, there are things you must learn, courses of study you must undertake or periods of apprenticeship you must serve before you can stand a chance of success.

Making money online working from home is not different from all these other careers or professions.  Of course you can take your chance and jump right in unprepared, like a lot of people would do, but I can tell you that would be considered fool-hardy! You will be living right on the edge of a sword if you do that and can easily lose your shirt, house, and in the worst case scenario your family due to such recklessness.

The internet marketing community like any other industry has its pitfalls and it can be a tough world. But there are sleazy people out there who would have you believe it’s a “stroll in the park” and requires no more than the belief that you CAN just do it. If you start off believing online marketing business is some sort of get-rich-quick scheme, perish the thought NOW and look for something else to do!

I have to admit though that it is a stroll in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the “nine-to-five” business world, dragging yourself out of bed early in the morning, punching a clock, and being a subordinate to someone who does not have your interests in mind. Money making online from the comfort of your own home can be the best thing that ever happened to you but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make your internet dreams come true.

Most people will not earn a dime online and yet there are others who will make more money in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is this so? The answer to this difficult question could lie in the fact that the internet is not a static medium; things change often on the internet and people who are not prepared to accept change when it happens, or are not quick enough to react to change, are often left far behind holding firmly onto their shattered dreams of yesterday.

There are also certain ways things are done on the internet which has no bearing on the way they are done offline. If you don’t take the time to learn the ways of the internet or find a mentor to guide you, you will always be left wondering why Jim is laughing all the way to the bank daily while you are quietly sobbing your heart out in frustration at your trickling cash flow.

Although there are various ways to make money online like affiliate programs, data input, paid online surveys, writing content for the web, google adsense,  internet auctions, web and graphics design etc, the fact still remains that for you to make money easily online you must first develop passion for your choice of internet business opportunities.

Passion in this sense simply means that you take the time to research the company, products or services you have chosen to deal with, really love and enjoy what you are doing and are prepared to work at it for as long as it takes to become a successful internet marketer in your own right. It is then that you translate your passion into the education, excitement and work that usually accompany success.

I’m not trying to make you believe that passion is the only thing necessary for internet marketing success because to be successful you must also have a good website (this is optional), good marketing know-how, widespread advertising, company support and effective keywords mining skills – but sidestep “passion” and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation derived from passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you don’t stumble.

Your research, if you want to follow the Affiliate path for example, should uncover an online company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have real passion.  You can easily find the right opportunity with the attributes identified above as there are literally thousands of them all over the internet. But ensure you choose with care and always make informed decisions.

It must be your goal to get to the point where, like a seasoned “guru” you too can sell about anything online – products or services. That dream, ambition or goal is indeed a worthy one. But remember, there are initial steps to be taken before you can begin a successful internet marketing career. After your initial mandatory training or education, if you don’t look carefully for and find the right company, products and services to be passionate about, all of those initial efforts training yourself for a successful and financially secure future on the internet could very easily have been all in vain.
