Rich Clients, Thin Clients and Hybrid Clients Explained

A client is a system or application that gains access to a remote service through a network on another computer system or server. The term was first applied to systems that were unable to run their own stand-alone programs, but could interact with remote services of a computer system via a network. Today, a client-server model is still used on the internet. The web browser serves as a client, which retrieves web pages from servers to display it to users. Generally, clients are classified as “Fat clients” (or rich clients or thick clients), “thin clients” and “hybrid clients”
